Hacer negocios hoy en d\u00eda es m\u00e1s complicado que hace una d\u00e9cada. Una de las principales fuerzas que remodelan los negocios proviene de la creciente comprensi\u00f3n de que las acciones humanas impactan los ecosistemas, y no en el buen sentido. Seg\u00fan los meteor\u00f3logos, el mundo ha entrado en un per\u00edodo de 5 a\u00f1os de temperaturas ascendentes, impulsado por las continuas emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero que atrapan el calor y el regreso del patr\u00f3n clim\u00e1tico de \u201cEl Ni\u00f1o\u201d. El calentamiento de los oc\u00e9anos, una ca\u00edda r\u00e9cord de hielo marino en la Ant\u00e1rtida y el aumento de las temperaturas de la superficie en el sur y el suroeste de los EE. UU., M\u00e9xico y otros lugares son se\u00f1ales de un cambio en las preocupaciones ambientales que las empresas deben enfrentar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seg\u00fan el Foro Econ\u00f3mico Mundial (WEF), el transporte, como sector, es el mayor contribuyente individual a las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en los EE. UU., con 28%. Con el comercio electr\u00f3nico impulsando el crecimiento de las compras en l\u00ednea y las expectativas de una entrega r\u00e1pida a domicilio, este porcentaje solo aumentar\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incluso cuando el cambio clim\u00e1tico desaf\u00eda a las empresas que dependen del transporte, muchas empresas siguen resisti\u00e9ndose a invertir en soluciones de sostenibilidad. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9? Una de las razones es la incertidumbre que rodea a las empresas, en forma de presiones inflacionarias, conflictos geopol\u00edticos e interrupciones en la cadena de suministro global. En medio de esta ambig\u00fcedad, es dif\u00edcil identificar los beneficios a largo plazo de contar con la (nueva) tecnolog\u00eda correcta e implementar las estrategias correctas de la cadena de suministro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pero tambi\u00e9n hay un conjunto de presiones compensatorias con las que las empresas tienen que lidiar. El comportamiento del consumidor, las regulaciones gubernamentales y los inversores exigen que las empresas reduzcan sus emisiones. El \u00e9xito financiero en el pr\u00f3ximo cuarto de siglo requerir\u00e1 que las empresas hagan su parte para minimizar su impacto ambiental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como industria, la log\u00edstica puede desempe\u00f1ar un papel importante en la mitigaci\u00f3n de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, a trav\u00e9s de un enfoque diferente y m\u00e1s inteligente para la gesti\u00f3n del transporte. Las empresas pueden comenzar su trabajo en log\u00edstica verde tomando tres acciones sencillas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Documentar la producci\u00f3n de carbono (as\u00ed como convertir otras emisiones en CO2e). Miles de calculadoras y otros tantos consultores est\u00e1n disponibles para ayudar con estos c\u00e1lculos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Establecer objetivos de reducci\u00f3n. El Centro de la EPA para el Liderazgo Clim\u00e1tico Corporativo<\/a> ha reunido una serie de mejores pr\u00e1cticas para desarrollar y rastrear objetivos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Tomar medidas para reducir las emisiones de carbono. Para el transporte terrestre, las reducciones pueden ocurrir a trav\u00e9s de una conducci\u00f3n m\u00e1s eficiente, el uso de gesti\u00f3n inteligente de flotas, el uso de nuevos combustibles, la centralizaci\u00f3n de plataformas log\u00edsticas, la planificaci\u00f3n de rutas y el uso de veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos (EV). Estas acciones brindan recompensas al reducir las emisiones, informaci\u00f3n que luego se puede comunicar a las partes interesadas. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
